Bringing our mission to life, the volunteer based Sisters of Charity Outreach is substantially funded by St Vincent’s Private Hospital and supports society’s most vulnerable, with an emphasis on women and families. It is a multi-faceted family care service, providing holistic care and a human presence through education, hospitality, counselling, visiting, transport and referrals.
Key services include an accommodation crisis centre for women and children, transport services for country people visiting the city for treatment, court support, confidential counseling and legal assistance and support.
Over the years services have evolved, according to changing needs as discerned through continual strategic planning and goal setting. Every year services are reviewed and new opportunities are identified to continue to fill the gaps. A very recent example of this is the establishment of a new visit service in the South West of Sydney.
As all services provided by the Sisters of Charity Outreach are free St Vincent’s Private Hospital has supported the program, since its establishment in 1990, through a financial contribution. Currently this amounts to 54 percent of the total income of the Sisters of Charity Outreach.
Without the support of St Vincent’s Private Hospital the Sisters of Charity Outreach would be unable to meet the needs of society’s most vulnerable.
